FAQ
What problems can thermal imaging find?
Loose connections, overloads, phase imbalance and components in poor condition.
Does the installation have to be running?
Normally yes: a defect only shows when the installation is in service and under load. Conditions are agreed before the visit.
Is thermography the same as fault diagnostics?
No. Thermography detects thermal anomalies; diagnostics measures and locates the cause of a breakdown. They often complement each other.
Read more: What electrical thermography is and what it's for
Infrared thermography measures surface temperature with a thermal camera, without touching live parts. In an electrical installation, an unusually hot spot often points to a loose connection, an overload or a degrading component. It lets you find it without dismantling anything and before it fails. After the inspection we prepare a technical report with the results. It applies to electrical panels, transformer stations, MV switchgear, substations and distribution boards.
